Managing your personal brand and your business brand
In episode 2 of Micro Entrepreneur: the magic of thinking small I manage to catch up with Jennifer Holloway, the founder of Spark Branding where we talk about How to manage your personal brand and your business brand.
In the intro
In the intro I talk about a great theory that I read about this week called the Helsinki Bus Station Theory. It was first shared in a 2004 graduation speech by Finnish-American photographer Arno Minkkinen. Arno suggests that the secret to a creatively fulfilling career lies in understanding how Helsinki’s bus station works.
I loved this idea and really wanted to share it with you and how it applies to your business. Arno originally shared this as it applies to photographers, but I think lots of us can relate to his story.
Jennifer Holloway is a personal branding expert and author of Personal Branding for Brits, she’s taken what she’s learned and created a practical guide to blowing your own trumpet. Her goal is to help as many people as possible discover being successful means being yourself (even if that’s admitting you’re a fan of The Archers like she is!)
She has used her branding experience to get on to The Today Programme, BBC Breakfast and Sky News. She has a great talent for spotting someone’s USP and bringing their brand to life. She balances being in the limelight by living her version of The Good Life in the Yorkshire Dales: pottering around the garden in an anorak and wellies, keeping bees and feeding chickens, then ending the day with a well-deserved glass of Rioja.
