We are the change

Keep your social media working for you while you’re away

As business owners we can’t always be at our desks, we have meetings, events, networking and all the other fantastic things that come with being our own boss, so knowing that social media needs to be nurtured can seem like a daunting task, especially with our busy lives.

Luckily there are great ways to make your social media work for you while you are doing the essentials for your business growth.

My two favourite social media tools:

You may already be using this fantastic tool but if not, I highly recommend it. In short, it is a place to view all of your social media profiles (excluding Google+ at the moment). You can schedule updates months in advance and you can easily add “keyword” searches to help you engage with even more potential connections based on what they say. Visit Hootsuite.

As a lover of saving time, ifttt.com has got to be one of my favourite tools! It helps you make sure all of your blogs, videos, updates, images, check-ins and so much more go out to the profiles you want to share them with automatically. You create ‘recipes’ such as ‘If a new YouTube video is uploaded then make it a post on my WordPress blog’. It can also automatically share blogs from RSS feeds that you want to share with your following. Never again will you have to go across all of your networks to simply share one piece.

Online fun!

When you find the tools that help you stay more focused on what you are great at, then you will find that social media is much more fun. You can simply check in when you are free to engage, thank for mentions and connect with others. Using tools like IFTTT.com and Hoosuite to synchronise your social media and have scheduled updates, will make sure your online presence is never overlooked.

Be ‘appy!

I would also recommend using Apps such as Instagram to add a little quirkiness to your brand, perhaps you could share the images of where you are, where you are going and where you have been. People love engaging with people and so you are forever showing them your personality by simply taking a photo and posting it to Instagram. You can also sync it to your Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare profiles – perfect for even more time-saving!

How do you save time on your social media? Is it working for you or are you finding yourself spending too much time on it?

Great article. I love Hootsuite too. Haven’t heard of IFTTT but will be checking it out. Anything to automate social media and keep the momentum going – while being busy on mum duty!

WordPress is great for scheduling blog posts too and takes the pressure of to be blogging constantly.

    Thanks Hannah.

    Hi Cassie,

Totally agree but it must still remain personal too, just helps with the busy lifestyle we all have, especially as a business woman and Mum (yourself) I am sure the thought of spending hours on social media is nearly impossible!

So pleased you like the post, thank you Cassie and do let me know how IFTTT.com goes.
